PRA boosts presence in Romania

- Last updated on GMT

PRA International has opened a new office in Romania, citing the Balkan region's burgeoning clinical trial market as the key driver for the move.

The US-based contract research organisation (CRO), which has operated in Romania since 2006, said the new Bucharest unit will support both its growth in the country, where it claims its trial business has doubled in size the last two years, and help further expansion into the neighbouring Republic of Moldova.

North Carolina-headquartered PRA has undertaken a busy programme of expansion in the last few years, with new offices in Poland, the Czech Republic, Israel, Ukraine and Sweden being just some of the most recent examples.

These efforts, and particularly its strong presence in an in-demand trial hub like central and eastern Europe (CEE), can only make PRA more attractive to those interested in buying the firm given that, according to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, it is already up for sale.
