News from Cobra, inVentiv and QPharma – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its weekly round-up of the latest appointments within the pharmaceutical industry, including news from Cobra, inVentiv and QPharma.

Cobra Biologics has appointed three non-executive directors to its board with Elisabeth Lindner, Carl Sundberg and Jinyue Wang.

Linder is currently chairman and CEO of Biosource Europe, and is also a board member of BioInvent International, KaroBio and Pharmalink.

Sunberg is co-founded of the Karolinska Investment Fund, where he served as investment manager for 10 years. He also heads the unit for bio-entrepreneurship at Karolinska Institute.

And Wang is founder and managing partner of Chinese investment firm 3N Partners.

Cobra CEO Peter Coleman said: “I am sure that each one will provide the existing Cobra team with a ready source of technical and commercial experience and expertise as we grow Cobra Biologics.”

inVentiv Health has drafted in Tom Sebok as new president of its communications group.

Prior to joining the company, he was president and CEO of healthcare communications firm Young & Rubicam's flagship New York agency.

In his new role he will take responsibility for inVentiv’s advertising segment.

A spokesperson for the business said: “Sebok’s hiring coincides with inVentiv’s realignment of communications services into functional groups, with one concentrating on advertising and paid media and the other focused on public relations and medical education.”

QPharma has named Dawn Gabriel as new director of quality and compliance.

She joins the firm – which provides regulatory compliance solutions – from Johnson & Johnson, where she was senior director of R&D, quality and compliance.

“My approach has always been a collaborative one,” Gabriel said. “By developing productive partnerships with our colleagues, partners, and valued clients, my team and I will strive constantly to work toward mutually beneficial goals.”

Charles River Associates (CRA) has appointed David Campbell as VP in life sciences practice.

A specialist in management and economic strategy issues in European and emerging markets, Campbell was most recently senior principal at IMS Consulting Group.

CEO of consulting services company CRA, Paul Maleh, said: "His experience as a management consultant and specialist in Europe and emerging markets, combined with his experience working in industry at leading global pharmaceutical companies, is a strong addition to our global offering in life sciences."

Digital services provider MedPoint Digital has made two new additions to its management team.

Eric Jansen has been named global director of business development for the company’s research services group. Prior to MedPoint, he was responsible for new business development at DOCS.

And former Abbott QA (quality assurance) manager Reetu Singh will become validation specialist.

Additionally, MedPoint’s TelePoint webconferencing division has added three coordinators in Dominic Naro, Lauren Smaha and Martin Izaguirre.
