News from AMC, Biocom and Sobi – People on the move
ACM Global Central Lab has named Mark Engelhart as its new chief commercial officer.
Prior to joining the company he was chief commercial officer at Cryoport, and previously held marketing management roles at Bayer, Abbott and Covance.
In his new role he will take charge of new developments, proposals and contacts for the firm.
Angela Panzarella, president of ACM, said: “Mark is a highly accomplished senior executive with deep experience in sales, marketing, strategy, and global commercial operations for central laboratory services and clinical trials support services, and will be a valuable addition to our executive team.”
Birgitte Volck is the new senior VP and chief medical officer at biopharma development service provider Sobi.
As CMO, Volck will head up the clinical development, regulatory affairs, drug safety and medical affairs ections of the business.
She joins Sobi from Amgen, where she was executive development director of bone, neuroscience and inflammation.
"With her extensive experience in drug development and integrated and patient focused medical affairs, Birgitte will bring a perspective and drive to our medical organisation as we advance our life cycle management and late stage pipeline projects," said Geoffrey McDonough, CEO.
J&J veteran John Monacchio has been hired by Axiom as director of business development.
He joins the team after 20 years at Johnson & Johnson, where he worked in the Ortho McNeil Pharmaceuticals division.
In his new role he will drive the growth of the healthcare educational material and training provider.

Healthcare advertising company AbelsonTaylor has expanded its IT and accounting departments with two new appointments.
Darrell Ansay joins the agency as an IT support specialist. Previously he was a data center technician at web services firm Akamai Technologies.
Gafar Sanyaolu will become an estimator, which means he will work as part of the finance team to set budgets for a wide range of account activities.
Before joining AbelsonTaylor he was a junior account executive for PR company CGS Communications.
PharmaSecure has drafted in Blue Sphere Health founder Mark Davison as chief business officer as part of an ongoing collaboration between the two firms.
Davison will focus on growth in the US and Europe for the firms, which together provide serialisation, authentication, mobile health services anti-counterfeiting and e-pedigree.
PharmaSecure CEO Nathan Sigworth, said of Davison: “He is an important leader in the anti-counterfeiting community, and his expertise will be a significant asset as we strive for improved healthcare delivery globally.”
Davison added: “I was attracted to PharmaSecure by the opportunity to use serialisation as an enabler for improved patient outcomes rather than merely a compliance obligation.”
Biocom has made three new appointments in Beth Kuch, Kim Maibaum, and Katelyn Doyle.
Kuch comes to the Californian life science association as marketing communications manager, after working in the same role for Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawaii.
Maibaum takes the role of marketing and programs manager for the organisation’s Purchasing Group. Previously she worked in marketing for Novartis subsidiary Genoptix.
And Doyle, the new membership and events assistant, was an account manager for marketing company Bella Pictures.
