Outsourcing-Pharma.com presents its weekly round-up of the changing faces in the world of pharmaceuticals, including news from Icon, NIH and Theradiag.

Icon ​has appointed three new senior management members for its clinical and central laboratories business.

Quintiles’ Nuala Murphy​ will become executive VP of global clinical operations and data management, former executive VP of business development at Kendle/INC Mark Roseman​ will beexecutive VP of global scientific operations, and Era Khurana​ moves from a quality leadership role for Icon to become medical director.

CEO Ciaran Murray said: “All three bring a wealth of operational, medical and therapeutic experience to Icon which we will leverage to support the design, planning and delivery of our clients’ drug development programmes.”

The US National Institutes of Health (NIH)​ has appointed David Murray​, associate director for disease prevention and director of the office of disease prevention (ODP).

Murray joins the organisation from the Ohio State University, where he is currently chair and professor of the Division of Epidemiology, College of Public Health.

NIH director Francis Collins said: "This is an exciting time for research in disease prevention and health promotion, which is gaining more and more visibility at the NIH. I am confident that Dr. Murray's experience will be a strong complement to the mission of the ODP."

DaVita Clinical Research (DCR) ​has drafted in a management team to head its new research facility in Denver, US.

On the clinical side; former attending physician for Capitol Emergency Associates Christopher Galloway​ will become medical director, and Chad Jaeger ​– who was senior account executive for Covance’s early clinical pharmacology units – will be senior director of clinical operations.

In charge of operations is Amy Denvir​, who joins the firm after serving in a similar role for Metroplex, and Michael Kreuter​ – once senior manager of clinical outsourcing at Sanofi Pasteur – is now director of data management.

The facility is set to open later this month.

Sequenom ​has named Carolyn Beaver​ as VP and chief accounting officer. 

Prior to joining the firm, which provides genetic analysis solutions, Beaver served in the same role for Beckman Coulter.

Paul Maier, Sequenom's chief financial officer, said: "We look forward to her contributions in continuing to pursue functional excellence in finance and accounting within our growing organisation."

Gerard Tobelem​, Pierre Morgon​ and Jean-Paul Prieels​ have joined the board of directors at Theradiag​.

Previously head of the hematology department at Lariboisiere Hospital, Paris, Tobelem will become the new chairman.

Both Morgan – Sanofi Pasteur’s VP of global marketing strategy – and GSK’s former senior VP of R&D (research and development) Prieels will join as directors.

Fastnet Recruitment​ has named Lydia Falvey​ as a recruitment consultant in the finance and IT sectors.

Falvey joins the firm – which provides recruitment solutions to the pharma industry – fresh from a post graduate degree in surveying at the College of Estate Management, UK.

She will focus on staffing for accounting and finance and IT roles.
