Air Filter Company Camfil Opens New Facility
Clean air solutions firm Camfil has opened a new £2.4m ($3.6m) facility in the UK offering customers better support and faster delivery times in Europe.

The Swedish-owned company offers air pollution control to industries including pharma and life sciences and last week cut the ribbon on a new 40,000 square feet Heywood facility, located in Manchester, UK.

Speaking with Outsourcing-Pharma.com, Rick Kreczmer – Camfil’s European APC Sales Director - said “the factory gives us the ability to react to customer requirements fast,” reducing delivery times to all European destinations.

Kreczmer explained Camfil’s dust extractors are mainly applied to solid dosage processing, “cleaning dust generated from product mixing, tablet presses, tablet coating, general extraction and High vacuum extraction units.”

Furthermore, Camfil has a unit specifically to meet end use demands of pharma called the Gold Series Camtain, featuring Bag in Bag out (BIBO) door for cartridge removal, dual valve discharge system, independently tested to verify containment performance which, Kreczmer said, offer a number of advantages to drug manufacturers:

The “BIBO door for cartridge exchanges is the easiest to use in the industry,” and the Camtain unit is constructed modularly to “provide the flexibility that many pharma users require when working in already designed plant rooms.”

One other service Camfil says it offers is protection against explosions, as some pharmaceutical dusts are explosive.

The new facility cost the company £2.4m and will generate 100 jobs, according to the Manchester Evening News, though the plant  had originally been expected to open in January.
