Repligen
Repligen, a company manufacturing products used in manufacturing biologics, has created a new position of Chief Operating Officer.
Tony Hunt was most recently President of Bioproduction at Life Technologies, a company recently acquired by Thermo Fisher. At Life Technologies, Hunt oversaw the growth of the company’s bioprocessing business, including expanding its upstream “Gibco” cell culture franchise and building the downstream purification and analytics units.
Prior to Life Technologies, Hunt worked for Applied Biosystems for eight years, rising to Senior Director of Pharma Programs, where he launched a pharmaceutical analytics business.
Repligen’s President and CEO Walter Herlihy said Tony Hunt had been picked for the role because of his understanding of bioproduction market drivers, knowledge which will help the company grow commercially in this sphere.
Repligen sells its consumable goods to biopharmaceutical companies for use during their manufacturing. These include Protein A affinity ligands (used to separate and purify monoclonal antibody therapeutics), and growth factor products (used to increase cell growth and product yield during the fermentation stage of biologic drug manufacturing). It is headquartered in Massachusetts, USA, with manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts and Sweden.
