Quantum Pharmaceutical
Catherine Brown has been promoted to Head of Commercial at Quantum Pharmaceutical, a company which manufactures and supplies unlicensed ‘Specials’ for the UK market. These drugs are specially made or procured for individual patient needs, for example at non-standard strengths, with unusual formulations, preservative-free, or medicines licensed overseas.
Brown joined Quantum in September 2012 as Head of Strategic Accounts. Prior to this, she worked at Alliance Healthcare as National Account Controller.
In June last year, an investigation by the UK’s Daily Telegraph filmed a sales representative from Quantum allegedly offering kickbacks to an undercover reporter claiming to work for a pharmacy chain. The purported deal would have seen the company send inflated invoices to the NHS (National Health Service) and allowed chemists to pocket the difference.
