Eli Lilly - NASCAR
Staying on the track but jumping across the pond, insulin-driven pharma firm Eli Lilly has a sponsorship deal with the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, or NASCAR as it is more commonly known.
“Our sports sponsorship is actually with a NASCAR Nationwide driver, Ryan Reed, because he has Type 1 diabetes,” a spokesperson told this publication. “We also sponsored the Brickyard NASCAR race in Indianapolis, as well as one in Bristol, Tennessee earlier this year.”
Sponsorship of Reed – who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2011 - began in 2013, adding its support to his car, the ‘No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop Diabetes Ford Mustang,’ and the firm intends to bring awareness and diabetes education to thousands of spectators at select NASCAR races nationwide.
