Wanted: Interim managers
Demand for interim managers is increasing year-on-year, according to a survey conducted by Ipsos MORI for IMA, the interim manager provider industry body.
Enquiries for temporary senior staff were up almost a quarter in Q4, 2014, compared to the same quarter in 2013. New roles increased by five per cent in the same period.
Of private sector assignments covered in the survey of IMA members, 11 per cent in the lasta quarter were in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, compared to seven per cent in Q3, 2014.
Life sciences head hunters RSA said the trend is attributable to recent mergers and acquisitions.
"The life sciences industry has been witnessing a resurgence of interim management activity,” said Dafydd Wright, director of Interims. “M&As continue to drive an appetite for interim change and transformation expertise, and growth in commercialisation of speciality pharma and rare disease products is creating a pull for interim senior leadership talent to drive these treatments to market."
