Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology
Montserrat Vendrell has been appointed director of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology, a new scientific institution comprised of six research centres of excellence: CRG, ICIQ, ICN2, ICFO, IFAE and IRB Barcelona.
The Barcelona Institute is a major European scientific institutes in Europe which performs interdisciplinary research, technology transfer, and international graduate training.
Vendrell, from Barcelona, worked for ten years as a post-doc researcher at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology (Hoffmann LaRoche, New Jersey) and later at the Institut de Biologia Molecular de Barcelona of CSIC (Spain) and the Barcelona Science Park.
She is the director of Biocat, an organisation promoting life sciences in Catalonia.
