Marathon Pharmaceuticals, an Illinois-based rare disease company, has promoted a Vice President, Babar Ghias, to Chief Financial Officer.
Ghias, 36, worked on health care deals for Credit Suisse’s mergers and acquisitions group in New York and London, before becoming Marathon’s VP of strategy and corporate development. Early in his career, he was an analyst for the investment banking group at UBS Securities Asia Pacific.
“In the year since he joined Marathon, Babar has demonstrated strong leadership in shaping our strategy, but most importantly he has exhibited tremendous dedication to Marathon’s mission of serving patients with unmet needs,” said Jeffrey Aronin, Marathon’s CEO.
