PhRMA
The board of PhRMA (the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America) has appointed Stephen Ubl as president and CEO. John Castellani who will retire at the end of the year.
Ubl joins PhRMA following a decade as president and CEO of the technology group Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed).
During his time at AdvaMed, the group influenced reforms of the FDA’s review process and of Medicare’s reimbursement of medical devices.
“Steve’s extensive experience, depth of knowledge and patient-centered approach to advocacy will serve him well in leading the association at a time when our industry is bringing tremendous medical innovation to patients, the health care system and society,” said Kenneth Frazier, CEO of Merck & Co. and chairman of PhRMA.
