India launches online import license application portal

Indian drug and API importers can apply for licenses online through a new service launched by the Central Drugs Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO).

The service, which was launched last week​, is designed to streamline and accelerate the process of obtaining the clearances​ needed by companies brining active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms into India.

Last month​, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare sought feedback on the biggest regulatory difficulties in India as part of a Government campaign to reduce red tape and create “a favourable atmosphere for the growth of the pharmaceutical industry​.”
