Almac launches pod for GDP, temperature-controlled shipping
The temperature-controlled shipping service solution provides an option as companies need to meet increasingly strict Good Distribution Practices. Additionally, the increasing number of biologics requires more temperature-controlled shipping solutions.
As we previously reported, nearly three-fourths of biologic drugs are temperature controlled – and nearly one third of all drugs in development are associated with biologic material.
According to Almac, The Almac Pod™ incorporates the company’s global courier network and advanced phase change technology (PCM) to provide a temperature-controlled shipping service solution. The company also said that since service-launch the Pod has been 100% effective in protecting the integrity of shipped products.
“With rapid growth in the volume of our controlled temperature shipments over the past few years, the introduction of innovative solutions such as the Almac Pod™ allows us to deliver on the growing needs of our clinical trial supply customers,” said Andrew Scott, Head of Logistics (EU) at Almac.
The Almac Pod™ is fully GDP-compliant and is available as part of Almac’s end-to-end, global supply chain management solution.
