Biesterfeld says the acquisition of fellow Germany-based distributor Schütz strengthens the firm’s focus on specialty chemicals.

German distribution company Biesterfeld has bought Schütz & Co., a Hamburg-based business focused on the distribution of customised active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and excipients, for an undisclosed fee.

According to a Biesterfeld spokesperson, the addition of Schütz “strengthens [the firm’s] core competencies and [its] focus on specialty chemicals and customer-specific solutions.”

“The service and product range of Schütz & Co. is an ideal addition to our portfolio for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries,” this publication was told.

The deal, which went through on August 1, will see Biesterfeld take on numerous long-standing partnerships with manufacturers for the supply of ingredients to pharma and cosmetic companies across more than 50 companies.
