Drug manufacturers selling insulin in Nevada in the US must disclose what they charge and how much the make from the drug under legislation signed into law last week.

The law – SB539 – also requires that suppliers provide the Department of Health and Human Services with information about the discounts they offer to third-party wholesalers.

Manufacturers are also required to justify and explain any price increases for insulin products above a certain level.

Companies that fail to disclose the information will face a $5,000 a day fine.
