The contract research organization (CRO) has announced that Dr. Frank Santoro has joined as chief medical officer.
Santoro most recently served as chief medical officer for Novella Clinical.
“My primary focus is to continue to expand our medical expertise and service offerings for client programs. I am going to be focused on continuing to build out the infrastructure and framework of our current robust medical and scientific capabilities to further enhance the expertise we can offer our clients across the life cycle of their projects,” Santoro told Outsourcing-Pharma.com.
Santoro has worked in the CRO industry for more than 30 years – experience which he said will be applied to SynteractHCR’s oncology work.
“I am looking to further innovate and drive continued improvement in these areas, as well as in new areas of growth such as personalized medicine, gene and cell therapy and others as they evolve in the next decade,” he said.
Santoro explained the company will also look at where novel digital technologies can advance its ability to provide enhanced medical/safety capabilities.
He commented: “For example, the ability to monitor patient safety issues in real time is of special interest as well as the collection and evaluation of data that will allow physicians to provide quicker, more informed input on items such as patient study eligibility, dose escalation decisions, endpoint determination, and adaptive study design considerations.”
