Aligning top trial sites with sponsors and CROs through performance data transparency
The platform – Match Performance – is the company’s new cloud-based system, which captures trial site performance data in real time.
The platform leverages Devana Solutions' previously launched companion technology, Ignite For Sites, a real-time data capture, integration, and analytics platform, and provides sponsors and CROs with a dashboard and report view into site timing and performance metrics data.
“Now sponsors and CROs can align with the top sites to recruit more patients faster while also gathering clean and accurate data and safely managing trials,” Barry Lake, CEO of Devana Solutions told Outsourcing-Pharma.com.
Faster trials, cheaper drugs
Sites with efficient processes at the front end, such as turning around feasibly in less than a day or two, negotiating a contract or budget in less than 30 days, are – to “no surprise” – the sites that “enroll more patients faster and collect clean and acute data and do trials safety,” said Lake.
Devana’s platform gives sponsors and CROs “unprecedented transparency” into these performance and timing metrics, he said. It also helps sites understand what trials they excel at, and where there is room for improvement by tracking progress from study lead through study completion.
“[Sites are] the last line really … where the rubber meets the road in terms of new investigational drug development,” said Lake, noting that to some accounts, up to 90% of the costs to bring a drug to market are tied to the costs of the clinical trial.
“You can’t reduce the cost of developing drugs unless you address cutting that clinical trial cycle time,” he said. “For something as important as doing new drug delivery as cost-effectively as possible, it’s high time that instead of going with an antiquated paper-based self-reporting system that we have performance data transparency.”
The forces at play
According to Lake, the site sector will consolidate much in the same way as the CRO industry has over the last decade. “I think right now there are big forces at play in the site sector,” he said.
For Devana, this consolidation will position the company well as it looks to provide sites with a tool to “stand out” in what is currently a fragmented industry, Lake explained.
“You can survive as a single site, but I think Devana Solutions Ignite for Sites is one of the tools that helps you survive,” he added. “I think it’s important to have tools that help you to stand apart and I think that this is one of them.”
