Smithers Avanza is continuing its investment in space, equipment, and personnel to help meet customer demand for bioanalytical and toxicology testing.

The Gaithersburg, MD-based “boutique” contract research organization (CRO) has doubled the size of its bioanalytical services laboratory over the last 12 months.

The lab now spans 15,000 square-feet and increases the company’s capability to perform large-molecule analysis for clients developing new biologics with the addition of several new precision instruments and an additional 28 staff members.

According to the CRO, the investments position it to meet a demand for third-party developmental and reproductive toxicology (DART) studies as well as general toxicology and vaccine testing.

Our commitment to growing along with the needs of our clients shows in the many investments we’ve made in our people and facilities over the last year,” said Michael Hochschwender, President, Smithers Avanza and CEO of The Smithers Group in a press release.

We will continue to augment and enhance our capabilities so that we can provide the highest possible level of service,” he added.
