The delivery technologies and development solutions provider Catalent Pharma Solutions today announced it has completed a $5.5m expansion program at its 200,000+ square foot Philadelphia, PA.

One of the largest sites in Catalent’s global clinical supply network, the expanded facility provides additional clinical packaging and storage capacity.

According to the company, the investment has resulted in a 40% increase in pallet space for both refrigerated and ambient clinical storage. It has also added extra cold chain packaging areas and a new clinical label control area. Additionally, the facility features a new environmental monitoring and building management system.

“Studies have become more global and complex, so the mix of services required to supply them has grown too," said Bernie Clark, vice president of marketing and strategy for clinical supply services at Catalent.

Additionally, Clark said the company is experiencing strong growth from both long-term and new partners.

"As sponsors often don’t have all the resources themselves, they are reassessing their outsourcing strategy," he told us.
