Marken this week has announced the relocation of its Chicago logistics hub into a new, larger facility equipped with cold chain technology for clinical trial materials shipments.

The new facility features a walk-in freezer, a walk-in cold room, ultra-low temperature freezers and conditioning areas for special cold chain packaging. It offers temperature ranges of: +2 to +8C, -15 to -25C, +15 to +25C and -30 to -60C.

Fully GDP-compliant, the facility will support regulated shipments of clinical trial materials throughout the Midwestern US.

Marken plans to add a liquid nitrogen service station later this year to support its growing cell and gene transportation services, according to the company.

“Our strategy has always been to set up operational hubs close to our clients in order to provide them with the best and most efficient services,” Ariette Van Strien, Marken chief commercial officer, told us.

“Upgrading and expanding our Chicago facilities was an obvious choice as the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries are growing in the area. We are excited to be operating in this region and also leveraging the proximity to Chicago O’Hare Airport to provide our clients with improved services.”
