Icon and Practice Fusion have teamed up to meet the expanding demand for real world evidence – and aim to transform the way research is conducted.

Practice Fusion – an Allscripts company – is a cloud-based ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) platform, which supports more than 20,000 US-based medical practices providing care for more than 5m patients monthly.

“Our biopharmaceutical customers are demanding end to end, innovative solutions involving multiple partners who can be effectively aligned to meet evolving real world research needs,” said Jim Carroll, vice president, real world evidence, commercialization and outcomes, Icon.

The Icon and Practice Fusion collaboration aims to deliver on this objective, he told us.

Carroll said the companies are “taking a novel approach to combine assets in a way that can satisfy the expanding demand for real world evidence across key life science stakeholders.”

“Overall, we see our collaboration as a disruptive platform that can transform how research is conducted,” he added.

Several studies are ongoing and the companies continue to pursue additional ways of providing value to biopharmaceutical and medical device companies, Carrol explained.

“The collaboration is evergreen and will continue as long as we are collectively delivering innovative solutions to customers,” he added. “We are just getting started.”
