The identity and access management firm Exostar has acquired UK-headquartered Pirean Limited to provide the pharma industry with simplicity, speed, and security, says VP.

Exostar’s cloud-based solutions help companies across several industries mitigate risk. The company has partnerships with Greenphire and Almac, among others, to provide single sign-on through its identity and access management platform.

Pirean’s Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) platform, Access: One provides mobile identity and access management (IAM) functionality.

As per the benefits to its life sciences customers, Exostar Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development Sean O’Neill said the pharma industry requires simplicity, speed, and security:

“Simplicity, in terms of reducing the friction associated with accessing data and clinical applications. Speed, in terms of bringing new therapies to market and delivering patient care as quickly as possible. Security, in terms of compliantly protecting intellectual property and personally-identifiable information as they are shared throughout the R&D and treatment processes,” he told us.

“Identity and access management supports all of these requirements,” O’Neill explained. “Our acquisition of Pirean paves the way for us to rapidly deliver this comprehensive capability to our well-established life sciences and health care communities.”

Under the agreement – financial terms of which were not disclosed – Pirean Limited will be known as Pirean, an Exostar Company.
