The company’s Data Cloud platform is designed to increase the innovation, openness and flexibility of using patient and prescriber data.

The product—expected to launch by December 2020—incorporates longitudinal patient and prescriber data offerings in a platform designed to accelerate collection, accessing and use of data. The features cover retail and specialty distribution channels initially crafted for launch planning, patient segmentation, commercial analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and more.

Paul Shawah, senior vice president of commercial strategy at Veeva, told Outsourcing-Pharma that the life-sciences industry would benefit from a transformation in the way data is gathered and used—something that has remained relatively static for a long time.

“The way that data has been collected, distributed, and consumed fundamentally hasn’t changed in decades. Just like we’ve done in other legacy markets, we’ll bring a new modern approach for patient and prescriber data with the openness that customers have come to expect from Veeva,” he said.

The Data Cloud product is powered by the Crossix Data Platform, designed for developing and delivering patient data and analytics on a large scale. The platform incorporates advanced technology, privacy-protected processes and continually expanding health data sets.

Asaf Evenhaim, CEO of Crossix, told us his company’s platform adopts a novel approach to data, which will benefit companies in the life-sciences field.

We are taking a fundamentally new approach and bringing real innovation to the data market,” he said. “Veeva Data Cloud will offer modern cloud technology that will change how data is developed, delivered, and used by customers. Ultimately, it’s our aim to deliver accurate data, faster.”

Peter Gassner, Veeva founder and CEO, said an updated approach to collecting and using data is long overdue in the industry.

The life sciences industry needs a new, modern approach to patient and prescriber data,” said Gassner. “We aim to bring innovation and choice to the market and an open approach centered on customer success.”

Veeva Data Cloud’s longitudinal patient and prescriber data solution for the U.S. market is expected to be available by December 2020 and will focus primarily on specialty distribution channels. Offerings for additional countries will follow in the coming years, enabled by a combination of Veeva product development, industry partnerships, and acquisitions.

The company plans to present detailed information about the Data Cloud platform at its online Veeva Summit on June 9. The virtual event, accessible on the company website, will combine live and on-demand sessions covering industry best practices and technological innovations.
