Choosing the Right Size Sphere

Choosing the right size sugar sphere, for a multiparticulate dosage form is imperative. Size matters; not only to achieve a robust formulation and efficient processing, but also to ensure reliable and reproducible release profiles.
Smaller size sugar spheres can present disadvantages; they are harder to coat, due to the higher incidence of agglomeration and the larger surface area requires higher weight gain of coatings to achieve similar film thickness.
Using a proprietary Colorcon tool, My Dosage Design™, film thickness and surface area to film thickness ratios can be determined to predict drug release rates with various size sugar spheres. To read more download here..
