Novis beats media old guard for publishing awards

Novis, now with almost half a million readers, last week earned
broad industry recognition with two further publishing awards,
following on from its best publication prize earlier this year.

At a ceremony in London, UK on Thursday night, the UK's Association of Online Publishing (AOP) named Lindsey Partos, editor of FoodNavigator.com, as a finalist for online editor of the year, while sister site In-Pharmatechnologist.com was named as one of the previous year's most outstanding website launches.

Earlier this year NutraIngredients.com, also published by Novis, received a finalist's award in the best publication category of the UK's Business Food and Drink Journalist Awards. The judges described NutraIngredients.com as "a ground-breaking initiative and undoubtedly a sign of things to come".

For the latest awards, AOP received more than 200 entries - a record number - with many coming from Europe's biggest publishing groups. The judges looked for websites that upheld 'the highest standards in online publishing'.

"We are very proud to recognise, reward and promote the work that publishers have created this year in terms of high quality content, business performance and individual achievement," said Bill Murray, AOP chairman and managing director of group business information strategy at Haymarket.

In-Pharmatechnologist.com has already made a significant impact on information services for the pharmaceutical industry, becoming one of the fastest growing sites in this highly competitive sector with 33,314 different readers in September and 23,622 individuals signed up to receive the newsletter.

FoodNavigator.com, which had 72,650 different readers and 34,230 newsletter subscribers in September 2004, is now the news source of reference for food and beverage development in Europe and beyond.

"Over the past four years, Novis has implemented innovative strategies to successfully launch a range of targeted news websites and 'opt-in' newsletters," said Phil Taylor, the editor of In-Pharmatechnologist.com. "We have made new rules, tried new ways and constantly worked to use our medium to get the most valuable information to the decision-makers we serve."

"It's a determination that has brought us pole position in many of the industries we serve and a 15-fold growth in the size of our company. But it really is great to see our success reflected in this award," he added.

Winner of the New Launch 2004 category was The National Museum of Science and Industry for ingenious.org.uk.

Novis, the business-to-business publisher behind In-Pharmatechnologist.com, is active across the science, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries and is widely recognised as the leading news provider in its chosen sectors. Novis is also a world expert in interactive marketing. The company has developed highly targeted content using the latest technology for advertising delivery, tracking and reporting.
