Foss, a Danish manufacturer of analytical instruments, announced recently that it has improved the quality assurance (QA) module for its instrument WineScan.

When a WineScan instrument incorporates the QA module, it is possible to gain enhanced details of the samples taken while ensuring the correctness of the results, writes the company.

The QA module consists of a software package that features a variety of functionalities, such as detecting whether it is a normal sample as well as correct calibration assurance.

Foss claims that a batch can be controlled for whether the delivered wine corresponds to the wine sample approval defining the purchase. Additionally, any adulteration of the wine can be detected.

After set-up, it is possible to distinguish between wines produced from differing grape types, as well as find other forms for the deviant samples, such as wine containing a specific additive.

The company is confident that as a result of these functionalities human error will be considerably decreased and control procedures more efficient.
