ERP software for pharma

A second-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) software product targeted towards the pharmaceutical industry has been launched by ICICI Infotech.

The package, called Orion@Pharma, promises to allow mid-size organisations to integrate and streamline business processes from procurement to distribution and sales management.

Orion@Pharma targets specific business needs such as batch tracking, including expiry date tracking, recipe management and supply chain management, and can address US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines and current Good Manufacturing Practice standards.

Hari Padmanabhan, head of the enterprise solutions at ICICI Infotech​, said that the company already has five installations of the Orion@Pharma solution worldwide, including GlaxoSmithKline's Middle-East operations. However, the official launch will expand its presence as a major ERP vendor in the US market, he added.

Orion@Pharma provides a number of benefits to companies, according to the firm, including streamlined procurement of raw materials, reduced procurement and delivery cycle times, tracking of receivable and payments to suppliers, a decision support tool for management analysis and a collaborative portal for supply chain management.
