Sartorius Stedim Biotech has launched a handheld device to aseptically cut and seal silicone tubing after fluid transfer.

Using the device, called the Clipster Aseptic Disconnector, single-use transfer lines and bag assemblies can be disconnected. Components are clipped together at the disconnect point before being put into the device which cuts the tubing.

Performing this process disconnects tubing while maintaining product sterility. Device features highlighted by Stedim include: ease of use; portability; safety and robustness; and validation under stringent test regimes.

The tool can be used on multiple sizes of silicone tubing, such as 3/8”x 5/8” and 1/2” x 3/4”, and platinum cured lines.
