A partnership between Sciex and Protein Metrics aims to make their services compatible with other software services available, enabling drug developers to work in an ‘open ecosystem.’

Sciex, a developer of analytical services software, and Protein Metrics, a developer of mass spectrometry software, extend their partnership to improve connectivity between their products, as well as with other products available.

Specifically, the joint project is expected to integrate Protein Metrics’ software suite for protein characterization with Sciex’s high-resolution accurate mass (HRAM) system.

The two partners began working collaboratively in 2015, when they designed TripleTOF 5600 and TripleTOF 6600 LC-MS/MS, two platforms enabling drug developers to track quality attributes for batches of protein peptide maps, as well as to characterize and quantify post-translation modifications and sequence variant.

According to Sciex, this latest extension of the partnership aims to answer the ‘rapid’ increase of data analysis requirements in drug discovery and the ‘push’ to artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and automation.

Sciex suggested that this evolvement has increased the demand for interconnected software products while minimizing manual data management.

Fraser McLeod, vice president and general manager of software at Sciex, told us the open data analysis ecosystem“will allow scientists to do more effective, efficient and quicker bioanalysis, leading to quicker time to market for therapeutics.”

McLeod added that the open ecosystem will be supported through the introduction of a host of bidirectional application programming interfaces, which will serve existing clients and encourage new partnerships with researchers.
