Porvair Sciences adds to microplate range

UK-based Microplate manufacturers Porvair Sciences, adds to its
range of microporous products that are suitable for a range of
industrial and domestic applications including drug discovery,
protein purification and high throughput screening.

Looking to further consolidate its broad range of application specific microplates and microplate sample concentrators, Porvair look to enhance its reputation for being a 'one-stop shop' for innovative microplate technologies.

Produced under clean room conditions, BactiGrowth plates from Porvair Sciences offer a contamination free deep-well microplate suitable for cell line growth or insect cell lines.

Using polypropylene raw materials, Bacti-Growth plates eliminate moulding or polymer contaminates leaching out of samples. Each pack consists of five Bacti-Growth plates and tight fitting lids. Every batch is tested to validate their contamination-free status ensuring reproducibility.

Bacti-Growth products range from a 384-well plate providing a well volume of 300µl to 1ml round and 2ml square 96-well plates, providing options to suit most applications.

Mike Brown, director of Porvair Sciences told DrugResearcher.com: "The Bacti-Growth plates are suitable for growing bacterial cultures. The product is available at around £80 (€114) per 25 units."

Porvair Sciences also make available its Krystal 384 clear-bottomed microplate range incorporating novel square wells with a large liquid capacity of 120 µl per well increasing sensitivity of most HTS assays performed.

The plates are compatible with most automated liquid handling systems, fluorescence and luminescence readers, as well as robotic handling devices. Krystal 384 white plates use a whitening formula to provide light reflectance and minimal light cross talk. The Krystal 384 black plate provides the all-absorbing background needed for high sensitivity fluorescence assays.

"The Krystal 384 was developed in line with the high throughput screening areas. It gives a medium volume per well (120ul) at the same time giving a flatness on the bottom of the plate making the readings more accurate," Brown added. "These plates can be used in any application where a clear base is needed."

Price ranges from £200 to 300/100 plates depending on customer requirements.
