Packaging specialist Autopak has launched a new tablet/capsule dust
removal equipment which promises to meet the strictest of FDA
cleaning requirements at a competitive price.

The vito cleaning chamber features an air-assisted static eliminator employing gentle air flow to deliver a balanced level of positive and negative ions to all tablet/capsule surfaces.

In addition to preventing dust particles from clinging to their surfaces, the air flow blows the neutralized dust to the dust collecting system, leaving the product clean and dust free.

The chamber is based on a helicoidally shaped brush using conductive hairs and core - all FDA direct contact approved materials.

It uses vertical movement and a gentle brush scuffing action to liberate the attached dust particles from the product.

The induced electrically charged ion airflow then neutralises the dust particles, preventing them from sticking to other products or to the brush itself.

The externally attached vacuum system removes the dust particles from the vito cleaning chamber.

The general director of Autopak, Ignacio Munoz-Guerra, told In-Pharmatechnologist.com the ergonomic benefits the vito offers greatly enhance the efficiency of the cleaning process.

"The deduster column is composed of lightweight components that can be disassembled assembled easily with no need for tools.

"The membrane pad operator interface is at an ergonomic height and there are flush surfaces inside the screw base for ease of cleaning.

"What is more, the vito's vibration-free operation minimises interference with the metal detector unit."

The Puerto Rican company also points out that the vito brushes do not have to be dedicated to particular products and can be cleaned fast and thoroughly with the vito Brush Flow Cleaner.

Moreover, the device features a separator for broken tablets, discharging them into the vacuum exhaust as complete tablets exit through the top.

The unit is completely enclosed, even the underside, which means there are no spaces where tablets can hide.

AutoPak has also added two electrical dry contacts on the unit: one to start the deduster upon an external signal, another to signal that the unit is in operation.

Easy movement is enhanced by swivel total-break casters and the whole operation produces minimal noise.

The vito cleaning chamber also incorporates the capability to include a metal detector in its footprint, thus providing a compact unit for dedusting and metal detection processes.

Autopak does the marketing of the product and includes a complete validation package at no additional cost.
