Appointments at CMC Biologics, PharmaNet and AAIPharma – People on the move
Claes Glassell has been recruited as CEO of CMC Biologics. Glassell joined the CMC board in 2005 and has stepped down as CEO of Cerus to take the new role. Earlier in his career Cerus worked at Cambrex, Akzo Nobel and Berol Kemi AB.
eResearchTechnology (ERT) has promoted Jeffrey Litwin to CEO, president and member of its board of directors. Litwin joined ERT in 2000 after working at Executive Health Group for seven years.
Valerie Palumbo has been named as senior vice president (SVP), corporate quality assurance at PharmaNet Development Group. Palumbo has more than 20 years of experience developing quality assurance programmes in the drug and medical device sectors.
AAIPharma Services has appointed Paul Maffuid as EVP of operations. Maffuid has worked in biopharm for 27 years, holding positions at Biopharmalogics, Arena Pharmaceuticals and Magellan Laboratories.
Kevin Cain has joined MedPanel as VP of business development. In this role Cain will work to increase business from biotech and pharma clients. Cain has previously worked at Serono, Proleon Therapeutics and Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
Intrexon has hired Thomas Kasser to lead its new animal science division. Kasser is a former Covance CVP and general manager and will now work as division president and SVP of Intrexon.
Former inVentiv Health president Terry Herring has joined the advisory board at Archway, a marketing company. Herring is currently president of commercial operartions at Mission Pharmacal and has also worked at Noven, Solvay and Ciba-Geigy.
Intralinks has named Chris Scalet, chief information officer at Merck & Co, as a member of its board of directors. Scalet joined Merck in 2003. Intralinks provides software-as-a-service systems to biopharm and other industries.
