Erik Fyrwald has been named president and CEO of Univar.
The former Ecolab president also serves on the boards of Eli Lilly, the Society of Chemical Industry, and the American Chemistry Council.
Of his new role, he said: "As we build on Univar's successes, we will be looking for more opportunities to execute key strategies and strengthen Univar's leadership position in the global marketplace."
Penn Pharma has hired Jerome Detreille as senior director of new business development.
The CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organisation) says Detreille was drafted in to take charge of its new £14m ($22.6m) facility in Wales, UK. It is hoped the plant will boost Penn’s specialist high potency (HP) offering.
Detreille – who joins the company from Catalent – said: “I am fortunate to have joined such a dynamic business at a significant point in the company’s development.
“The expansion of our high containment operations will give us competitive advantage in the provision of highly potent development and contract manufacturing.”
Kevin Espinoza is the new VP practice leader of commercial consulting for Compliance Implementation Services (CIS).
Previously deputy compliance officer for North America pharma at GlaxoSmithKline, Espinoza will oversee CIS’ compliance risk management solutions.
“Mr. Espinoza will focus upcoming efforts working with emerging biopharma company executives to help them realize that preparing for commercialization is a critical stage as they move closer to a launch date and they should start thinking about contracting strategies, commercial relationships, regulatory hurdles, and the various Federal and State programs that could have a major impact on pricing, transparency, government reporting requirements, and related systems and infrastructure,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
Healthcare advertising firm AbelsonTaylor has made two new appointments to its executive team with Chad Bernstein and Katy Kelnhofer.
Bernstein takes on the role of account director after previously working for the company as an account executive.
New to the firm, Kelnhofertakes over from Bernstein as senior account executive.
Digital imaging manufacturer ALLPRO Imaging has drafted in Michael Fontana as regional sales specialist in North East US.
Joining the team from HSBC, Fontana will be responsible for sales and distribution lines.
Kenny Keith, regional sales manager said: “His sales and support background will be a great asset as we continue to increase our presence in the healthcare market.”
Pacific Communications has named Mary Joan Arreglado the new senior account executive.
She joins the healthcare communications bod from rival company LehmanMillet, where she was senior account manager.
