The 136th session of the WHO Executive Board will open on January 25 with a special session on Ebola.
The Executive Board is made up of 34 health experts from different countries, elected for three year terms. The board put the World Health Assembly’s decisions into practice.
At the January meeting the Board will also appoint the Regional Directors for Africa and for Europe.
The 34 attendees at the next meeting will include Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer of the UK Department of Health (pictured), Thomas Frieden, Director of the US Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention, Martin Bowles of the Australian Government Department of Health, and other representatives from member states in Africa, South America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
