PhRMA II
Joaquin Duato, Chairman of Pharmaceuticals, at Johnson & Johnson, has been made Board treasurer of PhRMA.
Before his current role at J&J, Duato was company Group Chairman for the Americas and for Ortho Clinical Diagnostics. He joined the company via Janssen-Cilag in 199 and progressed into the Ortho Biotech division, eventually becoming President of Ortho Biotech Products in 2005.
He is a native of Valencia, Spain, with degrees in economics, business administration, and international management.
"The global scale of our businesses enables us to attack the global scale of disease more quickly, and, more powerfully, than ever before," Duato commented. "It also gives us greater insight into the changing nature of disease, too, helping us evolve and expand our pipelines to ensure that patients in the U.S. and around the world can fight back with the strongest treatment arsenal possible."
