Xenobiotica
Iain Gardner, senior scientific advisor at biosimulation company Certara has been appointed to the board of peer-reviewed journal Xenobiotica.
Xenobiotics are chemicals which do not occur naturally in an organism, including pharmaceuticals. The publication covers xenobiochemistry, clinical and animal pharmacokinetics and metabolism, animal pharmacokinetics and metabolism, pharmacogenetics, molecular toxicology, and xenobiotic transporters.
“Iain is an accomplished scientist, who is both a creative and analytical thinker. I’m confident that he will prove to be a great asset to the Xenobiotica editorial team,” said Certara CEO Edmundo Muniz.
Gardner joined Certara in 2011 and leads its Simcyp translational platform of population- and physiology-based PK/PD simulators.
The simulator uses modelling in virtual humans and lab animals for drug development to predict drug-drug interactions and PK outcomes, including differences for ethnicity and disease state.
