Keller buys Lehigh to boost pharma label capacity
Lehigh complements Keller's existing carton producing operation in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. Using both sites on the island Keller will provide clients with a comprehensive range of packaging options, covering cartons, labels, inserts and outserts.
"The acquisition reinforces our existing healthcare strategy, which is to provide a full range of packaging solutions from top class and well placed facilities, in those markets which are key to our customers", explained Bill Mitchell, CEO of Keller.
Mitchell added: "Integration of the two businesses, including the management, operations and sales functions, will be carried out to streamline our service delivery to our customers."
These customers are based throughout Puerto Rico and North America. Joe Moynihan, CEO of Clondalkin Group North America, Keller's parent company, added that Keller is the leading supplier of secondary packaging products in these markets.
Acquiring Lehigh is part of Keller's effort to strengthen its position. "We have ambitious expansion plans in Puerto Rico", explained Mitchell, adding that "acquiring Lehigh Press will help fast track the realisation of these plans".
Keller now has a carton manufacturing site in Vega Alta and a label, insert and outsert production facility in Juncos, Puerto Rico.
The company has the capacity to manufacture printed pharmaceutical folding cartons, inserts, outserts, labels and patient booklets. Furthermore, Keller markets several patented speciality products, including track-n-trace and ePedigree technologies.
